All was well last night, didn't notice it until this afternoon. The HTC Legend isn't seeing any of the WiFi signals around me. I was using WiFi to connect. SEttings on the phone show everything is on. Could I have downloaded something that would keep it from working?

I had been tearing my hair out because my new HTC Legend couldn't see my home WiFi yet occasionally would "see" a weak signal from a neighbor's house.

One was running WPA-SPK so I also set up another standalone WAP running WEP.

Long story short, it wasn't the type of security, it was because I was using Channel 13

It suddenly occured to me that not all countries (I'm in Australia) don't have Channel 13.
Changed to Channel 6 and everything worked.

The HTC Desire cannot use Wireless N (or even a mix of b/g/n as you can set on some routers). Set your router to use Wireless G - that should do it.

(Use any Channel except 13 on your WAP or Wireless Router and do not use WEP security as neither of those work either. Use WPA-SPK security).

MATE, you saved my life.
I got the legend like a week ago, and it was recognizing all the wifi around me!
But it never found my home wifi.
It got me so pissed off, I was even thinking to change to Blackberrys already!
Anyway, got the problem fixed.
Thanks a lot!

I imagine it's designed to suit their biggest markets. Availability of 2.4Ghz channels is regulated by country. At one extreme, Japan permits the use of 14 channels (with the exclusion of 802.11g/n from channel 14), while at the other Spain initially allowed only channels 10 and 11 and France allowed only 10, 11, 12 and 13 (now both countries follow the European model of allowing channels 1 through 13. Most other European countries are almost as liberal as Japan, disallowing only channel 14, while North America and some Central and South American countries further disallow 12 and 13.

My wi-fi on the phone was working fine until a 2-3 days back. Now when I switch on the
wi-fi on the phone...it indicates that wi-fi has been switched on but the wi-fi logo does not come on. Not sure if this has any thing to with my settings (Network S.S.I.D is my home network and has been set to W.E.P under Security) which channel should I choose?
BTW i am from India ... any specific channel and what about the W.E.P hex key... what should that be ?
