What do you think a phone's touchscreen can do when you read "multitouch"?

Definition:
pinch to zoom is when you can spread your fingers to zoom in and out. (only the distance between the fingers is calculated).
dual touch full support for using two fingers, moving wherever you want.
multi touch is when you can use more than two fingers!

The HTC Legend is announced to support only pinch-to-zoom.
The pinch to zoom feature makes zipping around websites intuitive
This neither include dual-touch nor multi-touch!!

Most testers call this "misfunction" or "bug". But it isn't! HTC wouldn't call it a "pinch to zoom feature" when it really supports dual touch. IF dual-touch works at all when the first NON-PRESENTATIVE devices from the CeBIT in Hannover and WMC Barcelona will be ready to be sold, we can consider ourselves happy. So we still have to wait.

A statement from Google:
This is how the touch screen hardware on the Nexus One works (which is essentially the same screen as on the G1 and myTouch). The Droid has a sensor from a different manufacturer, with different behavior. Other phones will likewise have different sensors.

This has nothing to do with the Android platform. Please do not file bugs about it. Android is just reporting what the hardware is capable of reporting. There is no "normalization" for games or such, there is just the data the screen provides. (Though there is some special code in the current framework for cleaning up the data from the Droid screen; arguably this should be in the driver or firmware for it, since this is really screen and hardware specific kind of stuff. At any rate, it is not applicable to basic screen capabilities like here.)

Test videos showing dual touch not working correctly:
HTC Legend - Multitouch Problems
Here's a better one, but on N1 (Google Nexus One)
Nexus One multitouch problems / issues - misregistering

Hox to test your device:
Download "Multitouch Visible Test", do a quick test like in the videos above.

where are we going to need multitouch? only in zooming and..? so if there isn't multitouch, don't think it's a problem.

I dont see that a problem!!  Pinch to zoom is the most important and it is working fine in Legend.
